Richard Cleaves had the foresight to plant Phantom Creek Vineyard predominantly to Cabernet Sauvignon back in 1996. We’re fortunate to be able to work with three different clones of Cabernet Sauvignon. By blending these individual clones, we capture the best elements of each to create a wine with exceptional complexity.

2016 had a long, gradual growing season with an exceptionally warm spring resulting in the earliest budbreak on record. However, moderate temperatures into the summer allowed us to retain acidity while achieving optimal ripeness.
Established by pioneering viticulturist Richard Cleave in 1996, Phantom Creek Vineyard is located on the lower terrace of the Black Sage Bench just above the warm valley floor. The tiny, seven-acre parcel is planted primarily to Cabernet Sauvignon. Since the early 2000s, fruit from the property has been used for single vineyard bottlings, a tradition we proudly honour and continue today at the winery.
